Provided preliminary analysis of the project's feasibility is positive, the agreement sees production of a new off-road 4-by-4 vehicle for professional use, built by Santana using Iveco engine and gearbox.
'The letter of intent also clarifies the guidelines for possible future negotiations, intended to build up common commercial policy and strategies,' Iveco said in a statement.
An Iveco spokesman said the vehicle is aimed at niche professional markets such as for fireman or forest workers, with the first vehicle from the cooperation not seen before next year.
The product would be sold in Spain jointly under the Iveco/Santana brand, as well as in other European countries such as Italy, France and Germany under the Iveco brand, he said.
