Hallo Cab-fahrer,
Okay,
What do we need:
- A punto Cab
- Universal set from FK Automotive for making the windows electric (+/- 50 euro on ebay)
- loom tube for laying the wires in (to make it look factory)
- some bullet-hole connectors, used standard in cars (find it in any carshop)
- some tap-connectors (to tap off electricity from a wire without cutting it, also in any auto-shop)
- a lot of patience
Step one: Connecting the switches and the wiring kit to the car's electrical circuit
Place the switches for operating the windows on the center console, just behind the handbreak. This is the place where the original switches are.
First remove the handbreak cover using the bolts behind the lip at the back (1) and the unde the little dark square lip in front of the handbreak (2)
Cut out the plastic carefully and mount the switches.
The included wire kit from FK (and other) are made for switches that are each on one side of the vehicle. Here the switches are very close to each other. Therefore it is adviced that you cut the wire short between the switches on the left (driver side) and the one ont het right (passenger's side). We re-use this wire to go from the switches to the motors (since the distance here between switch and motors is much larger than normal). For connection purposes, use the bullet/hole connectors (they wil fit the connectors already present in the wires).
Then guide the wires to the room behind the glove box (where the original wiring for the front electrical windows and central locking is situated). Use loom tube (see pic) and cable binders to deliver solid and decent work. As you can see, we need to drill a hole in the first part of the center console to get the wires from the handbreak to the front.
Behind the glove box, use tapping conncetors to connect the wire kit to the black ground (-) and to the red (+) cable. Use a multitester to ensure you got the big red wire (of the grey relais on the green socket on the right besides the yellow one)) that gives a +12V signal only when contact is on. There is a fuse included in the wiring kit from FK so no additional one is needed.
Tip: tap only the thick wires to ensure powerful operating of your windows.
